Packed with Knowledge!
A perfect blend of theory and practice!
An excellent book for anyone interested in family businesses

A cool espionage graphic novelIn this Black Widow story, the Black Widow is ordered to stop the sinister operations of an Arabian Warlord who plans to produce an army of vicious super-soldiers with a chemical virus. But along the way, Nastasha runs into Yelena Belova, who is a young spy still working for Russia and who believes she is the real Black Widow, and thinks that Natasha Romanov is just a pretender to the throne and must be eradicated. Thus, Natasha is charged not only with confronting this insane Arabian Warlord, but also with confronting this obviously misguided Yelena Belova.
This is really a great spy graphic novel, and is written by one of the greatest comic book writers of all time, Greg Rucka, who is famous for his superb works in the Batman mythos. As I said there is great action, suspense, espionage, and intrigue in this book. It also presents the fact that being a spy for your country does not always turn out to be the "gravy train" that it sometimes appears to be.
Any fan of the Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Elektra graphic novels would love this great spy thriller graphic novel!
Wonderful
Sexy...In this book, written by the team of Devin Grayson and Greg Rucka (on loan from the Batman books, it would seem), weave an intricate web of story, where epsionage and betrayals are key and we're taken back to the days of the cold war. Natasha Romanoff is pitted against someone who might be her better who claims to be the Black Widow herself. We have a fiery cat fight between two beauties. I don't think anyone would mind that this lasts for eternity.
The character is true to her origins, being very cold and inanimate at times of great danger, but you just can't let go of the way she looks or the way her body moves. The person to thank for this would be JG Jones. Jones's Widow is sexy, anything else is just not an adjective to describe the character. Hampton's work, on the other hand, though appealing doesn't do the Widow justice when it comes to beauty. There's no detail that you get to see in Jones's rendition, especially the folds of leather on skin.
If this team is out to make another Black Widow story, then it's going to be a definitive winner. Girls can go head over heels for James Bond, we, guys, have the Black Widow to satiate out appetite.

Ho Hum
Hampton Fun
A real mysteryMr. Lardo has an amazing eye for detail. As a resident of East Hampton, the town about which he writes, I can say that he gets things right. He doesn't miss a trick, making one of his books as good as a week's vacation in these parts.
The way he moves among narrators is excellent, developing his stories from different characters' points of view, and staying with each of their voices. There is a stillness to THE HAMPTONS CONNECTION, a pervasive sense of foreboding.
Mr. Lardo also took over the "Archy McNally" mysteries, set in Palm Beach, when their creator died. These books are great fun, maybe even more fun than the Hamptons series. The Archy books are meant to be as frothy as champagne and so they are. The Hamptons novels are far more compelling, and they stay in a reader's memory in the same way in which a fine red wine does.
Depending on one's mood, Vincent Lardo is an author for all seasons.

Fantasy Book or not ??
Can't Wait For Summer!
Just like being there... even better

One of few comprehensive works on this fascinating man.
Hard to find but worth the time!
enjoyable read

The second in the series ...
Romance, Mystery, Intrigue, Murder, Revenge, PassionYou will like this book whether you are an avid Medieval Romance reader or if you just like to read. Everything is perfect.
This one's a keeper!Elianne du Hommet is the destitute daughter of the sheriff of Knabwell -- a greedier, more selfish man you would be hard put to find. There is no love lost between the two and Elianne, with her own suspicions, agrees to help Josce and his stepmother in their quest to uncover the truth of their family's murders. After all, what else can be done to her? Thanks to her father, she is no longer welcome at the local priory and is near to being homeless.
Elianne is a strong, prideful character, aware she cannot have what she wants, but that doesn't stop her from falling in love, even though that path leads to danger. Josce is a most honorable, compassionate man intent on his duty, and the epitome of a romance hero. Secondary characters will make you laugh, cry, and tear your hair out. Especially Sheriff du Hommet whom I wanted to string up by his toenails!
MY LADY'S TEMPTATION is an intriguing, fast-paced novel filled with suspense and treachery. The climactic ending will leave readers flipping pages as fast as they can, only to find themselves hoping there will be another book in this series.
Denise Hampton hits her stride with MY LADY'S TEMPTATION. Reminiscent of her writing as Denise Domning, I highly recommend this spin-off of THE WARRIOR'S DAMSEL. Don't miss this top notch tale of love and its incredible power to beat all odds.

THE WONDERS OF NATURENever fear, dear friends. Outside Magazine's "The Wild File" has provided us with a book answering those various hard questions that we have about nature. Why Moths Hate Thomas Edison is a compendium of the best of The Wild File column. You are presented with five files dealing with various forms of nature. Each file has a question/answer format and cites the person who asked the question.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Some of the questions sounded stupid but in reality made sense. The answers were informative and hilarious. You would be surprised over the number of experts in such esoteric fields of wildlife. For example, one informant researched the number of pushups that lizards do in their exercise regimine. Yes, there are people who really do that.
What is also great about this book is its brevity and accessibility. You can share it with your children as they ask you the great questions of nature. You can spend time finding those answers to questions you had as a child. This is a delighful read. So go out and find out why lizards do pushups and why llamas spit.
Great book of short topics
Very funny facts. The book comes with an index, so you can look up facts fast, and the intro comes with an e-mail address because 'The Wild File' which the book is based on still lives on the pages of 'Outside' magazine and they still need questions!
Easy to read, funny and with answers anybody can understand. I would suggest this book for anybody, young or old.

A good story that answers some big questions. After reading this volume, fans will know why Barbara and Dick stopped being an item, how Batgirl and Batman learned each other's identities, why and how Robin left Batman's side to become Nightwing, how Batgirl replaced Robin as Batman's partner, and how a new Robin emerged on Batman's team.
The only real questions that go unanswered are (1) How much did Batman train Batgirl, (2) Where did Batgirl's new costume come from, and (3) what were Batman's feelings during the many changes that took place in this book?
Still, the story is fun and interesting and moves very quickly. A good, fun read for Batman fans.
Great concise retelling of Batman mythosThis story bridges the five-year gap between the end of BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES (Fox) and the start of THE NEW BATMAN ADVENTURES (Kids' WB!). Some of these plot points were told or alluded to in episodes of THE NEW BATMAN ADVENTURES or BATMAN BEYOND but they didn't go in depth as much as this book does.
THE LOST YEARS tells how Batgirl became an official part of Batman's team; Dick Grayson dropped his Robin persona, left Batman, and became Nightwing; and how Tim Drake became Robin. In the "real" comic book continuity, these events were sloppily spread out over dozens of years and creators, with filler all over the place. Here, Hilary Bader and the animated team tell the story in a much more satisfying, concise, and kid-friendly fashion, in 128 pages.
Forget your preconceptions of Hilary Bader -- here, she is gold. Hampton and Beatty are at the top of their form, and, of course, Ty Templeton's covers are always welcome.
My only problem is with the physical book: the paper is cheap and the cover's pretty wobbly. But this shouldn't be a problem for any kid or adult who reads this superb story.
Enjoy! // koby c.
P.S. If you like the animated style: Also reprinting the animated comic books are THE BATMAN ADVENTURES, BATMAN: DARK KNIGHT ADVENTURES, and BATMAN: GOTHAM ADVENTURES, and the Harvey and Eisner award-winning BATMAN ADVENTURES: MAD LOVE. You can pick up BATMAN: GOTHAM ADVENTURES monthly at your neighborhood comic shop. The animated cartoons I mentioned above are now on CARTOON NETWORK, except for BATMAN BEYOND, which is still on Kids' WB! Saturday mornings and in production as of this writing.
Ties up loose ends in excellent fashion.

Awesome story, excellent Art
Diggin' Dark Knight Dynasty
One Dark Knight is not enough

Not a bad read
A Story that is true to the original characters.
True to The Original CharactersJim Rockford is older now; mourning the loss of his father, Rocky; battling bad knees; trying to elude Angel's ubiquitous scams; and reflecting on his relationship with Beth and what might have been. Despite the passing of the years, Jim retains his wry wit and keen observations of the human condition. Mr. Kaminsky provides additional insight into the character of Jim Rockford, particularly the formative years and the time in prison.
The story is well-paced and intriguing. I enjoyed this book more than many of the recent 2-hour "Rockford Files" movies presented on television in recent years. If you enjoyed the original "Rockford Files" series from 1974-1980, you will enjoy this book.
